Pleasant Hill First Baptist Church Deacon Body A common Greek word for deacon is diakonos. Diakonos is defined as "a servant of the people, a waiter, attendant, servant or a minister". Deacons are servant-ministers of mercy in the local body. Their purpose is to relieve the Elder Council of the multitude of practical duties of caring for members, focusing primary attention to members' physical welfare. Deacons shall effectively and carefully discover needs and administer the local body's benevolent activities toward church members. Specific attention shall be given to widows and widowers, single parent households and the aged. Deacons are the collectors and administrators of the Deacon Benevolent Fund. Other duties may be determined and assigned from time to time by the Elder Council. Copyright Pleasant Hill First Baptist Church | info@fbcpleasanthill.org | 816.540.5872 |
